Introducing: Shen Yun’s Video Platform

Discover a World of Artistry, Culture, and Inspiration

If you enjoyed your Shen Yun experience, you don’t have to wait a whole year for it to come back. A new streaming platform now offers a wide range of artistic performances, uplifting stories, and moments of joy—all available whenever you want.

This online platform is called Shen Yun Zuo Pin (Shen Yun Creations). It currently has around 1,000 videos and keeps growing. You'll find past favorite dance performances from Shen Yun’s archives, Symphony Orchestra concerts, brand-new dance stories, and original mini-operas. There are also instructional videos, masterclasses, vocal music, interviews with Shen Yun’s stars, news updates, and some fun short films.

For a long time, fans have wanted DVDs to take home. This online hub is a great solution, offering content for all kinds of viewers—from devoted fans and art lovers to children and those learning to dance, sing, or play music.

The three most popular videos so far are the original opera The Stratagem, the Dance Techniques Showcase, and the dance mini-drama Dragon Gate Lodge.

The Stratagem Opera

Recorded in fall 2022, The Stratagem is a unique Shen Yun original opera. Set during the late Han Dynasty, it tells the story of a clever beauty trap used to remove a tyrant.

“Shen Yun’s opera is sung in bel canto, so it’s quite different from the Peking opera style people might expect,” explains Rachael Yu Ming Bastick, who played the lead role of Diao Chan. “The story is clear and easy to follow. The music, lyrics, costumes, and backdrop are all original. And yes, there are English subtitles.”

“What makes the opera so enjoyable,” she adds, “is that it’s both lyrical and informative. It’s a special way for the audience to connect with the story.”

The Stratagem is popular with younger viewers too. One father shared that his 4-year-old son has watched it so many times he has memorized it.

“As parents, we’re always looking for quality content for our kids,” he wrote. “This platform is a safe place where they can learn and enjoy themselves. We’re very grateful!”

Exciting Dance Moves

Another favorite is the Dance Techniques Showcase. It’s 15 minutes of nonstop impressive aerials, flips, spins, jumps, and layouts. These videos are inspiring and make you want to get up and try something amazing yourself.

In the series “The Technical Moves of Classical Chinese Dance,” Shen Yun’s principal dancers explain these techniques step by step, showing how they train and perform them.

There’s plenty more for dance fans—recordings of annual dance exams, competition videos, and foundational training routines. Shen Yun star Angelia Wang even has her own channel called “Angelia on Dance.”

Stories You Can Enjoy

The platform also features lighter stories like Dragon Gate Lodge, a humorous dance story about defiant Buddhist monks, enhanced with special effects and some slapstick comedy.

New videos are added regularly. You can also find dance props coming to life, fresh black-and-white versions of Charlie Chaplin, and even Finnish elves.

There’s a whole collection of behind-the-scenes footage from the “Three Musketeers,” three dancers who share episodes on topics like “How Shen Yun dancers stay perfectly synchronized” and “A day in the life of a Shen Yun dancer.”

“Most people don’t see what our lives are like off-stage,” says Musketeer Sam Pu. “Our channel gives a glimpse behind the curtain and fits well with the platform’s exclusive classical Chinese dance and music content.”

Longtime fans might remember that Shen Yun premieres a new production each year. After the tour, those stories and dances were usually gone. But the artistic team recorded every production and now they’re available to watch online.

“I really enjoy watching the early Shen Yun pieces,” says Sam Pu. “They inspired me to start dancing when I first saw them in the theater. Until recently, these were hard to access no matter how much you paid.”

Some favorites from the “Early Shen Yun Pieces” include Wu Song Battles the Tiger, Plum Blossom, Tang Imperial Drummers, and many more.

Music Collection

The platform also offers a large music library with original works and classical masterpieces performed by the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra.

“The platform combines entertainment—like dance programs, Symphony Orchestra concerts, and short films—with educational content such as interviews, masterclasses, and dance training,” says longtime Shen Yun conductor Milen Nachev.

“It’s both enriching and relaxing, with a wide variety of content.”
